These beautiful, and sturdy, pine needle coasters are intricately stitched by basket makers in Sololá, Guatemala. Handmade from longleaf pine needles and raffia, they are a lovely addition to the table to protect from unwanted drips and marks.
The Makers: These pine needle trivets are handmade by incredibly talented Mayan women in the Guatemala Highlands. Through a partnership with a fair trade, nonprofit organization these women are able to share their crafts with the world and empower themselves. Realizing their potential as artists and businesswomen creates lasting change at home, providing access to better nutrition, healthcare, and education, and allows these women to invest more in their local economies.
